May 1st, 2023

M Social, the lifestyle brand of global hotel group Millennium Hotels and Resorts (MHR), a unit of listed developer City Developments (CDL), has unveiled its first Chinese location with the announcement of M Social Suzhou. The 294-room luxury hotel, located in the Hong Leong City Center (HLCC), is part of Suzhou Industrial Park – a China-Singapore cooperative which aims to drive innovation through emerging, high-end industries.

Drawing inspiration from the local surroundings, M Social Suzhou is designed to reflect the vibrant city’s juxtaposition of modern and traditional. Located near the prime location of Jinji Lake and adjacent to Times Square, Jiu Guang Department Store, Eslite Spectrum and Ferris Wheel Park, the hotel offers guests a fresh and luxurious experience with access to state-of-the-art technology and the brand’s unique M Social service.

JCube is set to close its doors in August and make way for the JCube Condo Residence, a 40-storey residential and commercial development with estimated JCube Residence prices from S$2,000 to S$2,100 psf. Connected to the JLD, the development adds to anticipation of possible new launches in the vicinity.

All 294 guest rooms and suites are luxuriously appointed with panoramic views of Jinji Lake and the Eastern Gate of Suzhou. Among them is the magnificent 4,402 sq ft “Mega Cool Suite,” which boasts a 360-degree view of Jinji Lake.

M Social Suzhou hints at Industrial chic in its lower-level and sky lobbies, with a custom-made brass floor inlaid with a garden path pattern to guide guests to the elevators. Dynamic electronic art screens and light effects are a striking visual feature of the hotel, adding to the relaxed atmosphere and showcasing its unique personality. The 25th floor sky lobby offers an incredible view of Suzhou and its bustling cityscape.

A suite of amenities are on offer, including a 7,836 sq ft ballroom, 12,917 sq ft fitness centre, swimming pool, spa and three restaurants and bars.

Kwek Leng Beng, executive chairman of Millennium & Copthorne Hotels, noted Suzhou’s identity as the “Venice of the East” in their selection of the city for their first Chinese property. He said: “Our aim is to speed up the growth of the M Social brand, and the Greater China region is key for us. With the opening of the M Social Suzhou, we have now five locations worldwide, including Singapore, Auckland, New York and Paris, as well as a virtual office. We plan to expand the brand to more locations worldwide including London, New York, Sunnyvale, Phuket and key cities in the Middle East.”

M Social – known for catering to a “young, brave and social-media savvy” crowd – first launched in 2016, conceived by executive chairman Kwek Leng Beng to embody the spirit of creativity, connection and exciting possibilities. The opening of M Social Suzhou furthers this mission, providing guests with an unforgettable experience of the cultural capital of Jiangsu Province.
