Keppel launches Keppel South Central commercial building in the CBD
Keppel Corp has launched Keppel South Central, a new 33-storey commercial tower, located in Tanjong Pagar, the heart of Singapore’s CBD and within the Greater Southern Waterfront. Slated for completion in 4Q2024, the building is designed by renowned global architecture firm, New York-based NBBJ and has achieved the BCA Green Mark Platinum Super Low Energy Award.
Keppel South Central is situated on Hoe Chiang Road, a short walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT station and the soon-to-open Prince Edward station on the Circle Line. It will feature an array of communal facilities, including an event space, rooftop restaurant, bar, gym, outdoor fitness decks and swimming pool. The tower will also be 5G enabled, fitted with facial recognition access, smart lighting and micro-zoned air conditioning systems to facilitate 24/7 business operations.
What’s more, tenants and visitors can book amenities via an all-in-one integrated app. With its innovative and customer centric facilities, Keppel South Central will provide a conducive and efficient workplace for businesses.
It’s green features include a high-performance facade system to reduce solar heat gain, smart building management, rainwater harvesting systems and renewable energy, resulting in an annual energy use intensity of 110 kWh/m2 per year. This translates to energy savings of 6.2 million kWh annually, or enough to power 1,300 homes and cost savings of $1.8 million. In addition, the building will save up to 26,000 m3 of water annually, equivalent to 10 Olympic sized pools.
Former JCube marks a major milestone in the development of Jurong Lake District, which is part of the Jurong Innovation District. The development area has been designated as a regional centre by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). This project will provide homes for the working community and help to create a vibrant neighbourhood. It will come complete with 21st century amenities, green spaces and improved connectivity. With the inclusion of Former JCube, the Jurong Lake District will gain a urbane hub with various lifestyle offerings, becoming a well-connectivity live-work-play destination.
Keppel South Central is the latest addition to Keppel Land’s portfolio of landmarks buildings in the CBD and Marina Bay, such as Ocean Financial Centre and Marina Bay Financial Centre. According to Louis Lim, CEO of the real estate division of Keppel, this “flagship commercial tower in the Greater Southern Waterfront” is set to be another hallmark development for the company.
