JCube Site in Jurong Lake District to Be Transformed by CapitaLand

February 21st, 2023

CapitaLand, Singapore’s leading real estate developer, has announced plans to redevelop the JCube site in the Jurong Lake District. The development will feature a new residential and commercial complex and is expected to be completed in 2027.

The JCube site, formerly a shopping mall, is located in the heart of the Jurong Lake District, a major business and leisure hub in Singapore. It is close to a number of amenities, including the Jurong East MRT station, the new Jurong Regional Library, and the Jurong Country Club. The site is also within walking distance of the Jurong East Sports Hub and the Science Centre Singapore.

The new development will include a mix of residential, commercial, and community facilities, providing residents with a variety of amenities. The residential component will comprise one to three-bedroom apartments and a limited number of four-bedroom units. The commercial component will comprise two- and three-storey shops and eateries, as well as a supermarket. The development will also feature a multi-storey car park, a community plaza, and other public amenities.

CapitaLand has said that it is committed to creating a vibrant and sustainable living environment for the Jurong Lake District. The company has also said that it will work closely with the local community to ensure that the development contributes to the neighbourhood.

The redevelopment of the JCube site is part of CapitaLand’s larger plan to transform the Jurong Lake District into JCube Condo a world-class business and leisure hub. The company has also announced plans to redevelop the neighbouring Jurong Point shopping mall into a new integrated development.

The redevelopment of the JCube site and the neighbouring Jurong Point shopping mall is part of CapitaLand’s larger plan to transform the Jurong Lake District into a world-class business and leisure hub. This transformation will help to create a vibrant and sustainable living environment for the area and will contribute to Singapore’s long-term economic growth.

CapitaLand has announced plans to transform the JCube site in the Jurong Lake District into a 40-storey residential development. The mall located in Jurong East Central will close down on Aug 6 to make way for this new development, which is slated for completion in 2027.

The new residential building will be linked directly to the Jurong East MRT interchange station, Westgate and IMM Building via J-Walk. It will also be connected to the upcoming Jurong East Integrated Transport Hub, which will include an air-conditioned bus interchange, a public library, a community club and a sports centre.

The development is expected to bring new homes, businesses, recreational facilities and amenities to the Jurong Lake District. It is also expected to provide about 100,000 new jobs and 20,000 new homes between 2040 and 2050, adding to the one million residents already living in Singapore’s west region.

The closure of JCube means that its tenants, such as the Singapore Ice Skating Association and the Singapore Ice Hockey Association, need to find an alternative venue to continue their training. Sport Singapore is working with the respective national sports associations to find suitable facilities to support their athletes’ short- and long-term training needs.

Recreational figure skater Willis Lau, 24, said the closure of the ice rink is a shame, as many skaters would lose a key practice venue. He hopes that a replacement rink will open soon.

The new residential development is expected to be launched for sale in the second half of 2023. It is hoped that this development will help to make Jurong Lake District the largest business district outside the central area.
