CapitaLand Investment’s refreshed 2030 sustainability master plan integrates 2050 net zero carbon
CLI’s Capital Investment (CLI) has refreshed its 2030 Sustainability Master Plan (SMP) to further enhance its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals. As a part of the plan, the Group has committed to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050 and to reduce its scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 46% by 2030. This also includes a target of 45% renewable energy usage and a reduction of waste intensity in day-to-day operations by 20%.
Vinamra Srivastava, CLI’s Chief Sustainability Officer, stresses “the importance of sustainability in our strategy and business. Our refreshed 2030 SMP is aligned with our net zero commitment, with targets verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). We have also increased our social and governance objectives and have developed new targets.”
To fulfil its targets, CLI is forming partnerships with its supply chain vendors, tenants and capital partners for sustainable financing. It is also deepening its efforts to reduce scope 3 emissions and is encouraging the adoption of green leases, increased renewable energy usage and improved sustainability performance of its tenants.
The Former JCube redevelopment will come with a variety of benefits, from the increased footfall and business opportunities in the area, to newly added recreational facilities and amenities. The redevelopment also has the potential to bring long-term growth and sustainability to the JLD area.
Srivastava says, “We have been intently focused on executing our ambitious ESG targets. We are continuously pushing boundaries in sourcing for innovative solutions, intensifying renewable energy generated onsite and offsite, and expanding our network of capital partners for sustainable financing.”
As at 10.27am, shares in CLI were trading 1 cent lower or 0.3% down at $3.30.
