Minor Hotels, a Bangkok-headquartered international hotel owner, operator, and investor, is broadening its presence in Europe. The company is targeting “millennial-minded travellers” with its lifestyle Avani Hotels & Resorts brand, which already has a hotel in Portugal and is expanding with five new properties in Europe over the next two years.
The first of these to open will be the 101-room Avani Alonso Martinez Madrid Hotel in Spain. This will be followed by the 65-room Avani Palazzo Moscova Milan Hotel and 144-room Avani Rio Novo Venice Hotel in Italy. Later in 2021, the group will launch the 256-room Avani Frankfurt City Hotel in Germany. In 2Q2024, the 163-room Avani Museum Quarter Amsterdam Hotel in the Netherlands will open its doors.
In addition to the European expansion, Minor Hotels will also extend its Avani brand to Central and South America. Mexico will open the 140-room Avani Cancun Airport Hotel in 3Q2023, and Colombia will welcome the 66-room Avani Royal Zona T Bogota Hotel in 4Q2023.
Launched in 2011, Avani Hotels & Resorts currently has 38 properties across Asia, Australasia, the Middle East, Indian Ocean, Africa, and Europe. Meanwhile, Minor Hotels boasts a portfolio of over 530 hotels in operation worldwide.
According to Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels, the expansion of the Avani brand into Europe and Latin America is in line with the group’s strategy of expanding and diversifying its upscale tourist segment hotel offerings.
