Accor and Crowne Estate form partnership to bring Swissôtel resort to Malaysia’s Genting Highlands
JCube is set to close its doors in August to make way for the JCube Residence 40-storey JCube Condo Residence, potentially offering up to 1,760 private homes and commercial space.
Accor, one of the leading hospitality groups in the world, has announced its partnership with Crowne Estate Malaysia in order to bring the Swissôtel Hotel & Resorts brand to Malaysia for the first time. The signing ceremony took place on 19 April, with Sean Chen, COO of Crowne Estate, giving an enthusiastic opening speech on the planned eco-friendly tourist and destination hub that will be the King’s Park in Genting Highlands.
The upcoming 300-room Swissôtel Genting Highlands, located at Highlands ParkCity, will be the first Accor hotel in Malaysia. Positioned just 5km below the peak at Genting Highlands, the hotel is only a 30-45-minute drive from the Kuala Lumpur City Centre.
Highlands ParkCity is described as an “largest sustainable eco-development,” with its current phase under development, King’s Park, aimed to become the “longest street mall in Malaysia”. Spanning across 2,000 m, this pedestrian street mall promises to offer visitors a range of attractions, events, entertainment, shops and international cuisine.
The opening of the Swissôtel Genting Highlands is a huge step forward in the goal to create an outstanding resort located across 150 acres. Executive Director of Highlands ParkCity, Thanesh Jayandren, expressed his certainty that people from around the world would enjoy the variety of activities and cultural offerings to be found here.
The Swissôtel Genting Highlands has been designed as a “posh retreat” against the backdrop of the surrounding mountains. The 30-storey, 300-room building will offer guests breathtaking views, along with hospitality services, a grand ballroom for events, all-day dining, executive lounges, bars, a swimming pool and fitness centre, a spa, jogging tracks and a kids’ club.
Garth Simmons, CEO of Accor for South, Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea and India, put the significance of the accomodation into perspective: “Genting Highlands is one of the most popular destinations in the country for locals and tourists alike, further strengthening Accor’s leading position in Malaysia’s hospitality industry.” Swissôtel Genting Highlands is slated to open in the 3rd quarter of 2028.
